Review the Samsung Galaxy Tab

Image
As you may know a couple of weeks ago I had some lovely one on one time with the gorgeous Galaxy Tab. Now i know that Samsung are saying its not a direct competiter to the iPad but lets be honest any tablet that comes out between now and forever will be put head to head with the iPad. So is it a viable competiter to the sucessful iPad? First touch When you first go hands on with the Galaxy Tab you will find that it is quite light, not so light that it feels cheap but more a comparison to the iPad (if you have ever held one). This weight (which i will call close to perfect) means that you can easily hold it in one hand without getting too strained, meaning it can easily be used as an e-reader. Screen This brings me nicely to its screen which is a 7" Super TFT screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. This means that when it comes to pixel density the Galaxy Tab beats the iPad, so pictures are crisp and bright. The capacitive touch screen is responsive and very pleasing to ...

Mission 3: Samsung Apps

Image
Asphalt 5 FREE in the the Samsung app store There aren't that many games more pleasing to the eye than Asphalt 5. And the great thing is that with a Samsung Galaxy S its free in the Samsung App store and $4.99 on reugular high end Android phones, you can read up on it at AppBrain . For one this game will keep you entertained for ages!! i have had it on my phone for a good 2 weeks and so far i am about halfway through it and i play it a fair bit. Infact i near missed my stop on the London Underground the other day. So onto the review Gamplay To start of with you have one car a Mini Cooper S and it goes all the way up to a Ferrari FXX, there are over 30 cars to unlock in this game. All done with money you earn through winning races, which you can also use for upgrading your car. When it comes to entertainment this game really does shine through, mainly because it is one hell of a good arcade racer, if you like games like Forza then you might want to try something else. As this game ...

Rooting a Samsung Galaxy S

Image
So you want to root your phone? Or your not sure what it is, well here is a quick and simple rundown on why and how you would want to do that. First off as per usual you do this at your own risk i am not responsible for your bricked phone. Now what is rooting? Well it is basically giving yourself more control over your android phone. For example i am not the most extreme rooting person in the sense that i haven't put a custom ROM(Custom Operating System) on my phone. So for me i have two main apps that need Root access those are SetCPU($1.99) and drocap2(free). SetCPU does what it says on the tin, it lets you reduce the CPU of your processor. For me when i want to save battery power i set mine to 800MHz as that is plenty to keep things moving, also keep it on conservative setting for maximum stability :-) plus i would suggest not having a profile for when the screen is off as i have found that its a bit unstable with that on. Drocap2 is a handy app for taking screen shots of what...

Extension Mission 2 - Samsung Mobiler

Forgot to mention here are some photos of my 2 weeks in NYC taken with the Samsung Galaxy S And i have to say the photos on the Galaxy S are pretty damn good. Only problem i found is in the dark because it doesn't have a flash so don't expect miracles in low light conditions. The 5 mega pixels the camera provides is more than enough for the times when you don't have your main camera to hand. click here for the whole album

saw this and had to share

great illusion done with the magnetic tape of a cassette pretty darn cool

Mission 2 Complete

Well mission 2 for Samsung is complete. I decided to video a squirrel in Central Park NYC in High Definition using my Samsung Galaxy S phone. This really does show the great quality you get from the galaxy s So i suggest heading to youtube and watching it in HD. If your too lazy here is the video

The Samsung Galaxy Tab

Image
I was very lucky this last week to be in NYC for University, and decided to go down to Samsung Experience to check out some of their gear. Samsung Experience is like a showroom for all the newest and coolest stuff that Samsung make. And what I didn't expect was to find the Galaxy Tab sitting there, almost 12 of them! So I took it upon myself to have a little play and see what it is like, and in short its ace. A more in-depth review to follow after I get more time on it when it comes out on November the 1st.

The Android OS

Image
The Android operating system is an open platform developed by Google and is currently in many phones including the Samsung Galaxy S. It is based on the principle of openness and personalisation, meaning that no two people’s phones will look the same. It also means that you will be able to tailor the phone to exactly how you want it, giving you a much greater feeling of control. The Samsung Galaxy S is currently on version 2.1 Éclair, which is the most current stable build, and has Samsung’s Touch Wiz 3.0 interface over the top of standard Android. Touch Wiz 3.0(TW3) allows you to manage your screens with ease. TW3 allows for a fast and fluid experience moving between screens and applications, watching HD videos and listening to music is also made easy too. Android allows users to better utilise the 7 home screens with the use of widgets and shortcuts. Say you are on the bus and just want to quickly check what people are saying on twitter. All you have to do is go to the home screen wit...
